Is that the one out south auckland? I'm thinking about it, depends on whether I feel confident enough driving with the float and horse on board by then!

I'll see - there are standardbred classes I'd like to enter, but I will have only had float for 2 weeks, so who knows if I will feel safe driving with float by then..

Okay so here's a sticky one for you FBk guru's - how do you politely decline workmates when they request you as a Friend? I figure I see so much of them during the week that I don't need them on my Fbk page as well really - plus how BORING would my page be to them - horses horses horses, and oh, more horses!!!

I have repeatedly declined a relative & when she asked why, I just said that my Friends list was getting a bit out of hand & I'd deleted a whole lot of others too so she wasn't being singled out. I then quickly changed the subject & she's never asked since, nor did she seem offended (which must be a record for me!)

Oh really, felt sure we had been friends my dear!!Anyway I find it all rather odd.I accept friend requests from anyone I know, thought that was what being friends was all about!Anyway did ignore one from a certain Jody Albert.

I just tell them that I dont want them knowing about the debauchery I get up to on the weekend for fear they will lose respect for me in the workplace. I only have one colleague as an FB friend and thankfully she knows how to keep her mouth shut :-)

Well if any of you are playing Frontierville & aren't my friend, can you please add me? I need more neighbours. ;-)

People can notice if you delete them and get offended. A far better idea is to add them, then block them from seeing anything on your page, put them under limited profile

  Jessie http://a-horse-called-scotty.blogspot.com/   Dairy Flat  6:58AM    09-Sep-10
I make it a policy to not add work colleagues - they are that colleagues, not friends and quite frankly I don't want them seeing what I get up to (even if I don't get up to anything hahaha)

  Louise   @thurstonlodge.co.nz  7:27AM    09-Sep-10
Ditto with Jessie - there is too much opportunity for sniping, etc, so work stays work and home stays home unless those 'work' people are also in my home life.

We made it a rule at work (well those of us who were friends sort-of-outside work but wouldnt have met othrwise) that we would not "friend" them on FBk because that was crossing the line between work/home and you could not vent. Just say to the people at work that you dont consider it "appropriate" in a work situation. When two of them left, we immediately "friended" them to keep in touch.

What CMB said. I have some people that I didn't want on there but it was far too rude not to so I have them so that they cannot see my wall or wall posts. That way they have no idea whats going on but they will most likely never realise.

Depends if they are truely friends or not? I've added one person from work as would consider a friend but not added some family as can't be feeked getting into each others lives on facebook. I just delete and then if they ask just say you want to keep your friend list small.........

Oh LOL that's a point, I am 'friends' with my SIL who now lives with me - hope we don't end up venting about each other LOL!

There is a very easy solution to this problem - dont be on facebook to start with then you dont have to worry about adding twits you dont want to add. Have enough time wasting websites to go onto without adding facebook to it - between here and TM that takes up enough internet time.

  Puddleduck     8:28PM    08-Sep-10
I used to feed them all the time, just a handful in feed...black ones like you buy for birds...high fat/oil..then switched to the linseed pellets They always had nice coats!
Reply
  Simone -   Picture Perfect Paparoa!  8:45PM    08-Sep-10
They were in a feed I used to use & while good for shiny coats & fat content, if you say they're high in potassium, I'll never use them again! LOL

I feed them, nice coats, good source of fibre, fat and most vitamins. Also good for selenium.

Yep I am feeding a large handful daily. Horses seem to be loving them. I grabbed from RD1 the other day 5kg bag for $15 caus it was ripped...will last for ages! Yea too right Simone! Salt hasnt made a diff to my mare...she needs to come off the grass, but with one already in a mudpit (off grass as I am riding her, well until she took out a gate on the weekend!!)she is currently turned out...will wait till it dries up and they can go together will see how she goes on just hay, with the salt.

Does anyone know how many sheep roughly you can graze to each acre of land? I guess it depends on the quality of the grass. Thanks

  Puddleduck     8:14PM    08-Sep-10
I've had 20( + some lambs) at times and a horse easily on 4 acres

Thanks - Good to know the sheep where I graze can't be starving! They sure bleat alot - is that normal? They have some lambs now, which makes them even noisier.. I thought Sheep would be fairly quiet animals.

  Simone -   Picture Perfect Paparoa!  9:38PM    08-Sep-10
Quiet?? Tell that to Chloe, Frankie-Lynn & Moon when they're screaming the neighbourhood down for sheep nuts & cuddles. Hehehe.

Mmm - you could mention that to Rocky, Thyme, Mini(Moaner as her bleat sounds more like a moan than a baaaaaaaaah)), Nosey Rosey (coz she is), Pinky (coz she was), Fozzie (don't know why), Tetchy Teen (coz she is), and Grumpy Granny (coz she is) ...

Mine don't make a racket. Only when getting short of feed do they let me know about it.
Reply
  Louise   @thurstonlodge.co.nz  8:33AM    09-Sep-10
They bleat to communicate, esp when lambing, so the lambs know their mums and vice-versa. Otherwise they're usually pretty quiet.

James, Ebony and Charlie are a pain in the butt when they think they are hungry. As soon as they see me they start the starving 'please sir can I have some more' routine. I swear they eat more hay than the horses do!

Thoroughbred stallions in Whangarei/Northland available to non TB mares? Anyone? Buffalo Man and Rusty Spur at Totara Park are the only ones I know of.
