Hi all, am on the hunt for a dressage instructor in the Waikato, can travel to them. I really prefer someone who rides. I have a couple of youngsters and one working solidly at novice/elem. Any suggestions, my fav is just getting to hard to get a lesson with!

Any engineers or clever people here?! My mare OBJECTS to a chain round her bum in the float. So we are looking at getting a half door (in height) that goes across the width of my double float. What I need is some quick way of fastening it closed, ideally top and bottom. So don't want to be faffing around lining up things. Any brilliant (or even half brilliant) ideas? Seen anything like this around? TIA

What about getting a wide bum bar made? That's easy enough. You can use a spring-loaded catch on it so that it closes easily (though personally I hate them, so I'd use some other type of clip as a back up, but the spring-loaded one should be enough to keep it closed).Also, talk to Trisha (or email me!) about things you could do to help her. I had the wrong horse at the clinic but Scarlett used to be a real problem (3 people + 2 ropes + much angst) and now she will load herself, no halter, no encouragement (I actually have to tell her to Go Away! if I don't want to take her along!).

Hi Helen. Trisha and I have talked about this. She was going to help over winter, if necessary. But Molly is perfectly calm in the float now, and will walk in fine (months of work!!)but she just doesn't like a bum chain. If there is a bar, she will just drop down and go under it, just like she does with the chain- and scrape herself along the way. The bar would have to be so wide, we (Dave, not Trisha) decided I might as well just put a door there and have done with it. Don't understand the spring clip idea. Can you explain further? We were thinking of some kind of rod to link a top and bottom closing.

Not sure I have any photos, but if the clip is on the bar, and the plate on the side of the float, when you close the bar, the spring-loaded pin (latch? clip?) will spring into the plate and hold the bar shut. I'm thinking of either a plain bar (I have them in my float, an engineer made them for me) or a "gate" similar to what Freeway have - http://www.freewaytrailers.co.nz/horse_trailers/standard_trailer/index.htm - might have some photos there if you have a browse.

Actually! Have a look at the Freeway "easi load" ramp system. It is a half door, which is approximately equal to the top half or two thirds of a ramp, and a tiny little ramp which is the bottom part. The door is hinged on one side and latches on the other. Once you close the door you can close the mini ramp. Any engineer should be able to construct you something following the same principles.

Can prob gets lengths of rope for nothing, as part of a yacht club here. Might have to have a chat and see what I can find :) Cheers. Oh how do you attached the clips?

Would never rcommend a samsung front loader, Like front loaders just not the lemon I have (friend had the same I now have hers for parts) My sister has a bosch F/L never had it repaired in 6 years as compared to mine repaired 2-3 time a year over 4 years

We got a 7kg F&P toploader from Harvey Norman today. Was on special and we took the floor model which knocked another $50 off. Now I have a mountain of washing to get through-amazes me how much just the two of us create! You guys with kids must spend your whole day doing laundry!!!
